As a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California, a husband and father, and an ordained permanent deacon in the Catholic Church, I believe spirituality overlays everything. However, with that being said, I pride myself in meeting my clients “where they are” and developing a trusting relationship which allows for a comfortable setting to dig deeper in discussing issues, events, experiences, and memories for the purpose of creating positive change and living life more fully. My theoretical orientation focus is Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also incorporate self-care and spirituality, understanding that each client has self determination to choose their own path.
Over the years I have worked with the marginalized, those suffering with addiction, those suffering with grief, and couples experiencing problems in their relationship. I have a heart for those who are in pain and are struggling to ease that pain and live life more fully. By providing an opportunity to better understand yourself and dig deeper into the problems or difficulties you may be experiencing, I will work with you in a joint effort to address particular problems and issues, recognizing that the benefits which may be received will require effort on your part, including an active participation in the therapeutic process, honesty, and a willingness to change feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
I have had experience working with families and couples struggling in their relationships, families of sick children, those on hospice and family members struggling with loss of a loved one, those in jail, and those who suffer from addiction and homelessness. I am passionate about learning better ways to interact in relationships and bring that into my therapeutic approach. please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for a consultation. Telemental health (TMH) is provided at client’s request.
