San Diego Hospice Update
Established in 1977, San Diego Hospice is honored to be a trusted resource and leading end-of-life care provider in our community. We are also honored to partner with you on raising awareness surrounding the importance of hospice as a health care resource.
As a valued community partner, we want to inform you of changes that are occurring within the San Diego Hospice organization.
It was recently announced that San Diego Hospice had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, in an effort to reorganize our assets and explore our structural options to adapt to our current circumstances. As a result of this process, San Diego Hospice has made the very difficult decision to cease operations over the next two to three months.
As a community partner, we want you to know that patient and family care continue to be our top priority, with the goal of facilitating a smooth transition of patients on our service to other hospice providers in the community.
Scripps Health recently announced the addition of hospice services to its already well-respected palliative care and home health programs. As one of the area’s largest health care systems, Scripps Health will collaborate with San Diego Hospice to provide care for those patients who choose Scripps Health as their hospice care provider. Additionally, Scripps Health intends to hire many of the San Diego Hospice employees who are familiar with hospice care. We are honored to be working so closely with Scripps Health, a recognized leader of health care in our community.
In addition to Scripps Health, there are approximately 20 other hospice programs that serve San Diego County. Please visit http://www.yellowpages.com/san-diego-ca/hospices for more information. Please note: this list is for informational purposes only; San Diego Hospice is not affiliated with any other hospice program.
San Diego Hospice has been a leader in the relief of pain and suffering as well as offering information on end-of-life care for the past 37 years. It has been an honor to have worked with you on educating the community on various topics surrounding caregiver resources, healthcare decision-making, grief and loss, and end-of-life care issues.
We wish you continued success with your valued programs and services that enrich the quality of life in our community.
