I am a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from University of California at San Diego and had an early career in San Diego radio broadcasting before engaging in my “second career” as a stay at home mother. Most recently I obtained a Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University and have been a practicing social worker for the past 10 years. I am a native Southern Californian and longtime San Diego resident. I have offices in Point Loma and Encinitas and, in some cases, can make house calls. I also provide telehealth counseling.
I have a strong bio-psycho-social orientation in my practice as I believe that all elements in a person’s life contribute to their sense of wellbeing. I have accumulated a versatile body of experience over the past ten years. I have worked extensively with serious mental illness such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, and currently provide private case management to individuals suffering from those conditions, as well as offering support and guidance to their families. I have provided parent education with an emphasis on overall family functioning and am passionate about assisting parents in meeting challenges they face with adolescents and those are struggling to “launch.” I have specialized training in issues affecting families dealing with divorce, particularly in the area of successful co-parenting. Additionally, I work with adolescents and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety or adjustment to difficult life circumstances. I have an eclectic style using cognitive, expressive, supportive and solution focused techniques. I have a warm, directive style and work to join with my clients to help them address the challenges they face as they navigate their lives.
